Theres this great opinion piece that ran in the Sunday Milwaukee Journal Sentinel thats worth a read:
"Rather than build more highways to nowhere, we need to send more
transportation money back into our communities. Local leaders depend on
state assistance to fix potholes and maintain a viable transit system.
Because of property tax levy limits and other cuts to local aids, their
options are either to neglect local transportation needs or cut other
local services such as police and fire.
With the changing travel habits of young people, who have the most to
gain or lose from the transportation system we build today, let's make
sure we are investing in the infrastructure that we'll be using in 20
years, not of eras gone by."
